Our position
Peak Commercial Limited is a UK quantity surveying and commercial consultancy. Our turnover is below the £36 million threshold at which section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 requires a statutory annual statement, so this policy is published voluntarily. We publish it because we work in construction, a sector with recognised modern slavery risk in its labour supply chains, and because our clients are entitled to know where we stand.
We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, servitude, forced labour and human trafficking, in our own business and in our supply chain.
Our business and supply chain
We provide professional consultancy services delivered by directly engaged professional staff and, where needed, vetted subconsultants. We do not employ site labour. Our own supply chain is short and low-risk: serviced office facilities, professional services, software and IT, travel and subconsultancy.
The greater exposure arises through the projects we advise on, where construction labour supply chains carry recognised risk. Our role there is professional, not contractual, but it is not passive: our commercial work routinely touches subcontract procurement and supply chain management, and we treat visible indicators of labour exploitation as a matter to raise, not to pass over.
Our commitments
We engage our own people and subconsultants lawfully, with right-to-work checks and written terms, and we pay fairly and on time
We expect suppliers and subconsultants to comply with the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and to operate free of forced labour, and we will not knowingly work with any organisation involved in modern slavery
Where our advisory work gives us visibility of client supply chains, we encourage procurement practices that reduce labour exploitation risk, including fair payment terms and transparent subcontracting
Any member of our team who suspects modern slavery in connection with our business or a project we advise on is required to raise it with a director, and concerns can also be reported to the Modern Slavery and Exploitation Helpline on 08000 121 700
We will review this policy annually as the business grows, and will adopt statutory reporting voluntarily ahead of any legal requirement if our scale and risk profile warrant it
Responsibility
The directors hold overall responsibility for this policy and for ensuring it is applied.
