Quantity Surveying and Cost Management from Peak Commercial

Commercial · NEC · Quantity Surveying

Peak Commercial provides chartered quantity surveying and cost management to main contractors and specialist subcontractors, with deep experience of NEC target-cost arrangements on major infrastructure frameworks. Our principals have led commercial delivery on programmes worth several billion pounds, on individual projects ranging from £1m to £250m, from early contractor involvement through to final account.

Most commercial problems on a project are not caused by one bad event. They build, through a variation account nobody reconciled, a forecast that drifted from reality, a procurement period that outran the team, or a final account left open too long. By the time they surface, the numbers and the records are tangled together.

Our work is to keep that from happening, or to unpick it when it already has. We take on the cost management of live projects, embed alongside your team through pressure points such as tender periods and contract negotiation, and take over legacy positions that need resolving, growing variation accounts, disputed interim applications and stale final accounts among them.

The foundation is disciplined cost control: a cost baseline you can trust, forecasting that tells you the truth early, earned value that shows whether the programme and the money agree, and records built so that every entitlement can be evidenced later. On NEC contracts, that discipline is not optional. The contract assumes it, and the parties that keep it recover what they are owed.

We act for main contractors and specialist subcontractors. We have sat on both sides of that relationship, which is why our procurement and subcontract work holds up: we know where the risk genuinely transfers and where it only appears to.

Our principals' delivery record includes leading the commercial management of a £250m project with a team of twelve quantity surveyors, tendering and procuring more than sixty subcontract packages on a single scheme, and managing over a hundred million pounds of subcontract value on one project. Career project values run from £1m to £250m across highways, water and building, with more than £4bn of programme value led between them.
